Genzyme Australasia Genzyme Australasia operates as a subsidiary of Genzyme Corporation. Founded in 1994, the Genzyme Australasia office is located in Sydney and is responsible for both Australia and New Zealand. The team covers sales and marketing, scientific affairs, finance and administrative support. Verigen AG, a private company with a proprietary cell therapy product for cartilage repair (referred to as MACI), was acquired by Genzyme Corporation in early 2005 and the MACI manufacturing plant is located in Perth. Genzyme has business focused in Australia around rare genetic diseases, thyroid cancer, renal disease, orthopaedics and surgical adhesion barriers. Genzyme Australasia is also committed to a number of clinical studies and research and development projects. In line with Genzyme's commitment to develop products designed to address unmet medical needs, Genzyme Therapeutics concentrates on the treatment of genetic and chronically debilitating diseases. Research is directed at the underlying causes of disease and the development of the most effective long-term therapeutic solution. Genzyme Biosurgery is a leading developer of novel biotherapeutic and biomaterial products. Our products and research pipeline harness the power of biology to improve the health of patients in the orthopaedics and post-surgical adhesive disease areas. Genzyme's rich scientific and clinical experience has enabled us to develop leading programs in biomaterials and cell therapy for new disease areas. The result: a suite of products and product development candidates designed to provide new tools to help improve patient outcomes, reduce the time and complications associated with surgery, and may in some cases, postpone the need for surgery. |
